Guide to Life Insurance

I have to say, I have a love/hate relationship with life insurance.

When it’s done right, it’s one of my favorite tools out there. It’s a relatively low-cost way to give your family a huge amount of financial security.

The problem is that it’s often done wrong. Life insurance companies like to package their products with all kinds of complicated and convoluted add-ons, all of which serve mostly to line the pockets of the insurance company while leaving the consumer confused as to why they’re paying so much money for something that isn’t doing nearly all of the wonderful things the salesman said it would do.

But life insurance is another one of those things that pretty much every single new parent should have. And no, the policy you have through work is probably not good enough.

My goal here is to make life insurance as simple as possible for you. From deciding whether you need it, to a comprehensive and personalized approach to figuring out how much you need (something I couldn’t find ANYWHERE else online, so I made it up myself), to understanding which type to buy, to actually going through the process of buying, this will lead you step-by-step through the entire process.

And just for good measure, I’ve thrown in my impassioned plea for you to steer clear of a life insurance product that is far too often inappropriately sold to unsuspecting consumers.

This is how to do life insurance right.
